Distinguished Keynote Speakers

Abdallah Khellaf holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Arizona (USA). After a period of teaching at the University of Annaba (Algeria), the University of Arizona and Chapman College (USA), he moved to Max Planck Institute für Metallforschung in Stuttgart (Germany) as a “Gastwissenschafter”. He was also a researcher at the Energy Systems Development Center and a senior scientist at the Renewable Energy Development Center, Algiers (Algeria) where he acted as Division head. He contributed also to the energy master education program at the Pan African University Institute for Water and Energy. He was also member of the renewable energy doctoral program at the University of Boumerdes (Algeria), master program at the University of Blida and the Renewable Energy Graduate School. He contributed to the developments of the research and Ph.D. programs as well as the master curricula programs for the Pan African University Institute for Water and Energy (PAUWES, Tlemcen). He was member of PAUWES governance board. Dr Khellaf main research interests are on the topics of energy transition, environment, intelligent systems and sustainable development; renewable energy and hydrogen potentials, technologies and applications; and on energy policy, green jobs and entrepreneurship. He carried out several national and international projects. He contributed to many technical papers and has been the editor of two books on hydrogen and alternative fuels. He was the chairman of the International Symposium on Sustainable Hydrogen. He acted as an expert/consultant for national and international projects evaluation, e-learning program development on mini/micro-grid; issues in higher education and green jobs, gender problem and ICT; and faculty recruitment and onboarding. At the level of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, he acted as member of the Permanent Researchers Evaluation Commission, the Permanent Sectoral Committee and the Ethic and Deontology Commission. He has been member of several international conference program committees and a guest editor and reviewer for international journals.

Overview of artificial intelligence applications in hydrogen chain value

Dr. Adel Mellit is Professor of Electronics at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Jijel, Algeria. He received his M.S. Degree and PhD in Electronics from the University of Sciences Technologies (USTHB) Algiers in 2002 and 2006 respectively. Research interests of Dr. Adel Mellit focus on the application of artificial intelligence techniques and internet of things in photovoltaic systems. He has authored and co-authored more than 100 papers in international peer reviewed journals, and papers in conference proceedings mainly on photovoltaic systems and three books. He was the director of RELab (2012-2022). He is an Associate Senior Member at the ICTP, Trieste (Italy). Editor of the IEEE Journal of Photovoltaics, Subject editor of Energy journal and editorial board member of the Renewable Energy journal (Elsevier Ltd).

The role of artificial intelligence in advancing the solar energy sector: Bridging the gap between academic research and industry

Dr Benameur NEHAR Associate Professor at the University of Abou Bekr Belkaid-Tlemcen (Algeria) in the field of Natural, Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Development, I have over 15 years of experience in teaching and researching topics related to natural resources, green skills, environmental management, sustainability and renewable energy. My mission is to educate the next generation on environmental sustainability and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to build a more sustainable future. In addition to my academic role, I am also the Educational Virtual Exchange Coordinator for the Global Environmental Program hosted by East Carolina University (USA). Since 2019, I have facilitated virtual learning experiences that connect students globally and promote international collaborative learning opportunities. In 2022, I received the International Award of Teaching Excellence in Virtual Exchange from Global Partners in Education (USA) for my commitment to virtual exchange. I have a significant experience about virtual Exchange and internationalization of Education among many universities around the world. I am passionate about engaging higher education institutions in helping achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and raising awareness for environmental issues. My goal is to further environmental education on a global scale and help cultivate the next generation of sustainability leaders.
